Do You Need Plantar Fasciitis Treatment For Your Sore Feet?
Posted by admin in Prescription Pain Killers on December 20th, 2009
My remedy for plantar fasciitis is Rest, Ice, and Stretching.
I have been a long distance runner for over 30 years and I am continually looking for the Best Plantar Fasciitis Treatment. Active people like myself who spend long hours on their feet need to maintain their feet like a fine tuned sports car. Prevention is the best medicine. Proper rest, stretching, and good training techniques will protect you from ever getting plantar fasciitis. However, you would not be reading this article if your feet felt great!
The best plantar fasciitis treatment that I have found so far is to back off on my training when the pain flares up. I follow the rest with ice massages. I freeze water in either paper cups and peel back the paper as the ice melts. The paper cup works as a handle to hold the ice during the ice massages. I don’t like the feeling of holding a block of ice in my fingers!
My second favorite method for treatment is to find an old tennis ball and roll it under my arch as I am standing. I like an old tennis balls because it is softer and less painful on my sore arch. This gives the foot a good stretch and strengthens the muscles. I am not a physical therapist-I am an ultra distance runner. I do what works without trying to figure why. When I hurt, I want results now, not a PH D’s dissertation.
Stretching is another method for foot pain treatment. I love to stretch after I am already warmed up. The old school method was to stretch before you work out. Wrong answer! It’s always best to stretch when properly warmed up. The best stretching method that I have found is place my toes on a curb or steps with both feet and go up and down. I do anywhere from 10-20 repetitions for each set. This is not only good preventive medicine, in time, the sharp pain in your heels and arches caused by plantar fasciitis will go away.
